Socratica Symposium 2026 - Stage
About Event
NOTE: This is a multi-day experience! Day 2 info
Cool work deserves to be shared.
Once a year, makers from all over gather to celebrate building things for the love of it. The underdogs, the tinkerers, the late-night experimenters, the ones who acted without waiting for permission.
What began as a handful of friends in a classroom has grown into a global movement! Last year, we sold out a hockey arena to show off passion projects across art, tech, and everything in between.
Now, we're taking over the entire Waterloo region.

What to Expect
Our stage presentation is a chance to hear the process of how these projects were made, from the people who were unafraid to try. Topics from last year included:
Fabricating computer chips from scratch in an apartment
Creating an emerging art-tech collective
Photographing the changing landscape of a university campus
Convincing the MBTA to put googly eyes on their trains
Building a full-body exoskeleton

This isn't a pitch event or a hackathon, it's a celebration of what happens when people take the risk to act on their dreams.
The Host Mindset
The Symposium is a celebration where everyone plays a part! When you join us, you're more than just an attendee; you're a host, a friend, a potential collaborator. We expect everyone to:
Welcome newcomers like old friends
Ask questions that spark imagination
Share in the collective joy of creation
Leave the space better than you found it
And if you see someone standing alone in a corner, go be their friend!
See you soon!! 😁✨💯🎉🔥

About The Hosts
⁂ Socratica is an open collective of makers, artists, founders, researchers, designers, and everything in-between. A safe space for our shared love of making things.
You deserve to be here. We know it can be intimidating to start (we’ve been there). Great creative work is historically done together, across backgrounds and disciplines, in small, high trust groups. We’re at our best together, and you are invited. Ɛ>
