The Signal and the Noise
Hosted By
About Event
For three hours, we will dissect a city block from top to bottom: telephone cables, streetlights, surveillance cameras, traffic lights, streetcar cables, municipal signage, sidewalk markings, street grates, water mains, internet cables, sewage pipes, subway tracks.
We will learn the language of utility covers; we will play street crossing buttons like an instrument; we will begin to notice surveillance cameras everywhere.
Be warned: after this tour, you will never be able to look at a normal city block the same way again.
Duration: 3hrs.
Location: Our intersection is Dundas & McCaul. We will meet at the corner of Grange Rd. and McCaul street near the Bike Share station.
Price: This tour operates on a pay-what-you-can basis. There is a $2 fee to book your spot. At the end of the tour, you can pay whatever you feel the tour was worth (cash or card both accepted). Most guests choose to pay between $25 - $40 per person.
Accessibility: This tour takes place on city sidewalks in the downtown core and does not involve any stairs. It is therefore accessible for most types of mobility devices, wheelchairs, etc. Please indicate on your registration form if you have specific questions or access needs.
