Ontario Rationality Weekend

Ontario Rationality Weekend is a chill annual celebration of local Canadian rationalist culture. If you are a rationalist (or believe in some of their beliefs), join us for our fourth one!

Date and Time

August 8-9th, 2026.

Morning until late on Saturday August 8th.

Morning until 7pm on Sunday August 9th, after which we'll move to my place for an afterparty.

What's Included

• Entry to the event venue (a 2-floor open concept venue a few blocks south of Trinity Bellwoods Park - come and go as you please)

• All food during the weekend - breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, plentiful snacks, and coffee.

• After-party Sunday night at my house!

What's Not Included

• Travel to and from Toronto, if required

• Parking

• Lodging

No Lodging!?!?

Yeah, sorry. It was sort of a pain in the ass to organize last time, so this year I'm downloading more of the responsibility to you.

There's going to be a question in your registration form about whether or not you want to go in on a 4-bed hostel room at Samesun Toronto with others at the retreat (expect to pay ~$90 per night). I'll facilitate getting pods in touch with each other, but you'll be on your own from there.

As is the case with the previous time, a hostel bed is an affordable option for singles, but likely not worth it for couples or people who have local friends who can host them.

Can I Bring A Plus One?

If they are part of the community, of course!

If not, use your best judgement - is your plus one a person who's open-minded, curious, and open to discussing with near-strangers their takes on AI, furries, and geopolitics? Would they be happy to leave your side and talk to other folks at the retreat? Will you feel more able to engage with them there, instead of feeling like you need to be a buffer between them and the rest of the community? If so, we'll be happy to have them along.

This is going to be our primary means of coordination and communication up until the day of the retreat, at which point the primary means will change to be whiteboards at the venue.

Invites will be sent after payment confirmation, unless you have already attended in a previous year in which case you should already see two open channels. Use it for logistics questions, activity suggestions, and getting to know other folks attending.

The media consent notice at the bottom of the page is there for liability reasons, but media consent will be opt-in rather than opt-out at the weekend retreat.
