Night Moves: A Neo-Noir Photo Walk
About Event
NIGHT MOVES: A Neo-Noir Photo Walk
Join us October 24 at 7 PM for an after-dark photography adventure through Toronto's west end, inspired by neo-noir cinema, liminal spaces, and the nostalgic atmosphere of the city at night.
What is neo-noir? Neo-noir is a modern interpretation of classic film noir, known for its dramatic shadows, unconventional lighting, atmospheric colour, and sense of mystery. Think neon signs, empty streets, reflections, urban isolation, and the strange beauty of familiar places after dark.
Our walk also pays homage to Toronto's cult-classic 1980s television series Night Walk, Night Ride, and Night Moves. These late-night programs were early examples of Slow TV, a style of television that invites viewers to experience ordinary moments at an unhurried pace. Accompanied by mellow jazz, the series took viewers on atmospheric journeys through Toronto's nighttime streets, capturing the city as it was.

We're bringing a little of that spirit back, exploring Toronto through photography, paying attention to the overlooked, the ordinary, and the cinematic.
THE WALK
The exact route will remain a mystery, but expect a long urban walk with plenty of opportunities to stop, explore, and photograph along the way.
All experience levels are welcome! Bring your camera or phone, experiment with nighttime photography, and share what you know. We'll learn from each other along the way.
