Making Dough: Socratica x Ramp Buildathon
About Event
Your grandparents own a beloved bake shop, called Grandma’s Bakeria. It’s a cornerstone of the community as a place for students to study, awkward first dates and reunions with friends. Your grandma is especially proud of her famous ‘Fall Parfait’, that people come from all over to taste. Or, at least they used to.
Last year, a nation-wide corporate chain, The Bakery, opened up RIGHT NEXT DOOR. And though you can’t prove anything, their ‘Autumn Parfait’ looks and tastes suspiciously similar. With their streamlined operations and surplus of cash, The Bakery has been picking up in popularity.
Your grandparents have turned to you, their tech-savvy grandchild, to help them create systems they can implement to save time and money, so they can focus on making a new recipe for their ‘Fall Parfait’, and reclaim the title of the best bake shop in town!
Event details:
This is a two part buildathon event, in groups of 4. First, you will create software, apps, automations or systems to help save time and money for your grandparent's bakery. The time and money you 'save' will be given back to you to use to purchase ingredients from our in-house grocery store to make actual parfaits.
Everyone is welcome, as long as you come ready to make. No technical or baking experience is required!!
The schedule:
5:00 PM - Arrival and team formation
5:15 PM - Kickoff and projects begin
5:30 PM - Part 1: Build a software demo! Dinner will be served
8:30 PM - Break time
8:45 PM - Part 2: Buy ingredients and make 'Fall Parfaits'
9:30 PM - Dessert and demos
10:00 PM - Time to go home!
